  Jonathan R. Lance - Co-Founder & Managing Partner                                                               

Mr. Lance is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Lance Partners LLC. He has over eighteen years of experience in deal structuring, acquisition financing, leveraged lending, work-outs, derivatives and capital markets both in the United States and Europe with First Chicago (now JPMorgan Chase), Merrill Lynch and Banc of America Securities. During his tenure at First Chicago, he evaluated over $3 billion in financing transactions related to mergers and acquisitions and capital restructurings in the media sector. In addition, he advised corporate clients on hedging strategies, such as interest rate and cross-currency swaps related to capital market financings. Subsequently, he advised hedge funds on trading strategies related to the fixed income markets. Most recently, he established and operated advisory groups within Banc of America Securities to structure fixed income investment opportunities. Mr. Lance received a B.A. in Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University, an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and an M.R.E in Real Estate Development from New York University.                                                                          

 

 

  Anu Lance - Co-Founder & Partner


Ms. Lance is the Co-Founder of Lance Partners LLC. She has over thirteen years of private equity investing, investment banking and operating experience in the United States and India. In India, she managed various areas, including, production, marketing and information technology, of her family business, Addi Industries Ltd., a publicly listed apparel manufacturing company. Subsequently, she worked for Salomon Smith Barney’s Investment Banking Group in New York City, NY and Palo Alto, CA. She was primarily involved in merger and acquisition advisory services to the media and energy sectors. In addition, she evaluated business ventures and advised on private equity placements in the information technology sector. During her tenure, she also worked with the COO and CAO of Investment Banking at Salomon Smith Barney to develop business metrics used for evaluation of various groups within Investment Banking. She is also an active angel investor with GoldenSeeds LLC. Ms. Lance received a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from University of Delhi, an M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Cincinnati and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at UCLA.

Virender S. Datta

Mr. Datta has over 40 years of experience in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry through assignments in India and other countries, including the United States. He is a graduate of the Hotel and Catering Institute of India and the Oberoi School of Hotel Management. During his career, he has held diverse positions including General Manager of hotels in Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi and Founder President of Fortune Park Hotels, a wholly owned-subsidiary of ITC Hotels Limited. He is a recipient of the Roll of Honor from his Alma Mater, the Hotel and Catering Institute of India, for his lifetime contribution to the hotel industry. He has also been honored with the Hall of Fame by PATWA (Pacific Area Travel Writers Association). 

 

 

  Mark Gibson


Mr. Gibson has over 22 years of experience in the real estate and outsourcing businesses and is a recognized leader in the field of outsourcing and project management. He brings development & project management, corporate real estate management, and general business operations skills. Originally from the U.K., he was based in Hong Kong and Singapore for 8 years. While there, he was the regional CFO/COO of a global construction company responsible for construction projects in China and Southeast Asia. He has managed over $3 billion of construction projects, including $500 million of hotel development projects on behalf of Mandarin Oriental and Furama. His development projects range from hotels in Vietnam, U.S., China, Myanmar and Europe to call centers and shared services centers in China, Australia, India and U.S. He has been involved in every aspect of the development process for both speculative developers and corporate real estate organizations. His most notable hotel projects are: boutique hotel in Myanmar (120 keys), city-center hotel in Kuala Lumpur (600 keys) and resort in Hawaii (388 keys). He is currently a Managing Director at Ernst & Young in New York. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification of the Project Management Institute and is a full Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM). He has an undergraduate degree in economics, management and law from the University of the West of England and a Masters Degree in Project Management from the University of Reading.
 
  
  Shyam Suri
Mr. Suri has 35 years of governmental and hotel experience in India. He brings extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework and the regulations affecting the tourism and hotel industry in India and the approvals and licenses required for hotels. From 1964 to 1992, he worked in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), where he held senior governmental positions at the state (Uttar Pradesh) and national level (Govt. of India). Most recently, from 1997 to 2006, he was the Secretary General for the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), a national level apex industry association of all hotels and restaurants in India. As Secretary General of FHRAI, he has conducted extensive research on the hotel and tourism industry in India and has published various reports, such as, Guidelines and Incentives for the Hotel Industry in India, Trends in Business Travel in India and Trends in Domestic Leisure Tourism in India. He holds a Master of Science from Allahabad University, India and a Diploma in Marketing from Institute of Marketing, U.K.

  

     

  Joe Wheeling

Mr. Wheeling is EVP for Accor North America and COO for Red Roof Inn. He is responsible for all aspects of daily operations and ongoing strategic development of the Red Roof Inn brand. Since 2003, he has focused on reinventing Red Roof Inn through a $200 million national renovation program. Prior to this, he was Senior Vice President of Motel 6, where he was responsible for the renovation effort that was the foundation of Motel 6’s significant turnaround efforts. He directed the brand’s system-wide $600 million renovation of its nearly 800 properties and was instrumental in the introduction of its extended-stay lodging brand, Studio 6. He has a B.S. from Colorado State University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategic Planning from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
